Calenday vs Doodle
These two products are less alike than the category suggests. Doodle is built around the group poll — finding a slot that suits eight people. Calenday is built around the booking page. If your problem is genuinely the poll, Doodle is the better tool.

The short version
Doodle Pro is $11 per seat per month and Team is $9 with a two-seat minimum; its free plan allows one poll and one booking page, and carries advertising. Calenday is $99 once, with unlimited event types on the free plan and slot polls included.

Which one should you pick?
Decide by which half of the problem you have. Coordinating a date across many participants is Doodle’s speciality and it is excellent at it. Publishing a professional booking page that takes payment is Calenday’s, and Doodle is thin there.
| If you need… | Choose |
|---|---|
| A branded booking page with custom questions | Calenday |
| To take payment when someone books | Calenday |
| Round-robin across a team | Calenday |
| A free plan without advertising | Calenday |
| Group polls as your main use case | Doodle |
| Sign-up sheets for slots with capacity | Doodle |
| A tool participants already recognise | Doodle |
What each one costs over 36 months
Doodle is priced here on its cheapest usable plan for each team size: Pro at $11 for one person, because Team requires two seats, and Team at $9 per seat above that. Calenday is $99 once, at every size.
| Solution | Plan used | 1 person | 5 people | 20 people |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Calenday | Lifetime | $99 | $99 | $99 |
| Doodle | Pro · Team · Team | $396 | $1,620 | $6,480 |
Doodle figures come from doodle.com/premium. Stripe payment collection and custom branding require the Team plan.
What Doodle does better
Doodle invented the category it dominates, and it is still the best tool for the specific problem of getting many people to agree on one date. Calenday has slot polls, but they are one feature among many rather than the core of the product.
The group poll, done properly
Response deadlines, hidden participants, comments, reminders to non-responders. Calenday’s slot polls are functional; Doodle’s are the reference.
Sign-up sheets
Slots with limited places for parent evenings, office hours and workshops. Calenday has group events but not the sign-up sheet format.
Recognition among participants
People know what a Doodle is and fill one in without instructions. That reduces friction in a way features cannot.
Enterprise governance
SSO, an admin console, activity reports and a 99.9% SLA on their enterprise plan. Calenday has none of these.
What Calenday does better
As a professional booking tool rather than a coordination tool, the gap is wide. Doodle’s booking page is a secondary feature; in Calenday it is the product.
A real booking page
Your logo, your colours, your custom questions, in your guest’s language. Doodle’s booking page offers far less control, and custom branding requires the Team plan.
Payment at booking
Stripe or PayPal into your own account. Doodle collects through Stripe only on its Team plan.
A free plan without ads
Doodle’s free tier carries advertising and allows one poll and one booking page. Calenday’s free tier has no advertising and no cap on event types or bookings.
Cost that stops
$99 once against $9 to $11 per seat per month — $1,620 for five people over three years on Doodle Team.
Migrating from Doodle
Very little to migrate, because Doodle holds very little. Polls are transient by nature and booking pages are simple, so the switch is mostly a matter of recreating what you use.
What carries over automatically
- Your calendar, once Google or Microsoft is reconnected.
- Meetings already confirmed, which live in your calendar.
What you have to redo
- Open polls should be closed in Doodle before switching; they do not transfer.
- Booking pages must be recreated as Calenday event types.
- Sign-up sheets have no direct equivalent — the closest is a Calenday group event.
Calenday vs Doodle, in short
- Is Doodle a real appointment scheduling tool?
- It is primarily a coordination tool. Doodle does have booking pages, but its centre of gravity is the group poll. If you need a branded booking page with custom questions and payment, it is thinner than a dedicated scheduler.
- Does Calenday do polls?
- Yes. Slot polls let you propose several times, collect votes on a public page and confirm the winner, which then becomes a real booking. They are included on the free plan. Doodle’s polls have more options; Calenday’s convert into a scheduled meeting.
- What does Doodle cost?
- Pro is $11 per seat per month; Team is $9 per seat per month with a two-seat minimum; Enterprise starts at $15,000 per year. The free plan allows one group poll and one booking page and shows advertising.
- Which is better for a school or association?
- Often Doodle, because sign-up sheets with limited places fit parent evenings and office hours exactly, and Calenday has no direct equivalent. If you need paid registration instead, Calenday is the better fit.
- Can I use both?
- Plenty of people do, and it is a reasonable setup: Doodle for coordinating internal meetings across many diaries, Calenday for the public booking page where clients book and pay. They solve adjacent problems.
