Attorney scheduling software for initial consultations
Calenday is attorney scheduling software for solo practitioners and small law firms. Prospective clients book an initial consultation, free or paid in advance through Stripe or PayPal, from a link that checks your Outlook or Google Calendar live. Teams or Zoom links and email reminders are added automatically. Booking is free; paid features cost $99 once.
What scheduling problems do attorneys face?
Attorneys lose billable time to phone tag with prospective clients, to free consultations that never convert, and to clients who miss appointments. A law practice needs consultations booked online, an option to charge for them in advance, video links for remote clients and reminders. Calenday covers that booking layer only.
Phone tag with prospects
Callers who reach voicemail often try the next firm. A booking link lets them reserve a consultation right away.
Consultations that don’t convert
Charging a consultation fee up front filters out casual inquiries. Calenday can require payment before confirming.
Remote clients
Many clients prefer a video consultation. Teams or Zoom links are created when the booking is confirmed.
Missed appointments
A reminder email the day before reduces missed consultations.
How should an attorney set up Calenday?
A typical law practice setup has three event types: a free 15-minute screening call, a paid 45-minute initial consultation on Microsoft Teams, and a 60-minute client meeting sent by single-use link. Connect Outlook, add Stripe and Teams with the $99 license, and email a reminder 24 hours before each appointment.
- 01
Connect Outlook
Sign in with your Microsoft 365 work account so court dates and client meetings block your booking page.
- 02
Create “Screening call” (15 min, free)
Ask prospects to describe their matter in a few words in the reason field, and set a 24-hour minimum notice.
- 03
Create “Initial consultation” (45 min, paid)
Turn on Stripe payment in USD and Microsoft Teams. The client pays before the booking is confirmed; the slot is held for 30 minutes during checkout.
- 04
Use single-use links for “Client meeting” (60 min)
Send existing clients a link that works once, and add the 24-hour reminder email.
Which Calenday features help attorneys?
Attorneys get the most from paid consultations through Stripe or PayPal, Outlook and Google Calendar sync, Microsoft Teams or Zoom links and email reminders. Calendar sync and single-use links are free; payments, video and reminders come with the Lifetime license, paid once at $99 for every user in the firm.
Paid consultations — Lifetime
Clients pay before confirmation, and funds go straight to the firm’s Stripe or PayPal account with no Calenday commission. Refunds are issued manually.
Outlook sync — free
Microsoft 365 and Google calendars are read live, and each booking appears with the client as a participant.
Teams or Zoom — Lifetime
Teams needs a work or school Microsoft 365 account; Zoom has its own connection.
Single-use links — free
Send a client a link that accepts one booking only.
How much does attorney scheduling software cost?
Calenday costs a law firm $0 for booking pages, calendar sync and single-use links, and $99 once for paid consultations, video links and email reminders. The Lifetime license covers every attorney and assistant you invite. There is no monthly subscription, and Calenday takes no cut of consultation fees.
The free plan has no time limit and includes unlimited event types and bookings, Google and Microsoft calendar sync, meeting polls and single-use links.
The $99 Lifetime license adds Stripe and PayPal payments, Teams, Zoom and Google Meet links, email workflows and analytics for unlimited users. For other tools’ prices, see our comparison pages.
What doesn’t Calenday do for attorneys?
Calenday schedules consultations; it is not legal practice management software. It does not manage cases, documents, conflict checks, time tracking, billing or trust accounting, and it holds no security certification such as SOC 2. Avoid collecting confidential case details in the booking form, which only has name, email, reason and notes.
No case management
Calenday keeps booking details only: no matters, documents, time entries, invoices or trust accounts.
No custom intake forms
The booking form asks for name, email, reason and notes. Conflict-check questions and intake forms are not available.
No certifications
Calenday holds no SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification. It can be self-hosted with Docker if the firm wants control of its data.
Attorney scheduling questions
- Can clients pay for an initial consultation in advance?
- Yes, with the $99 Lifetime license. Connect Stripe or PayPal and turn on payment for the consultation event type. The client pays before the booking is confirmed, the slot is held for 30 minutes during checkout, and the fee goes directly to the firm’s account. Calenday takes no commission.
- Are consultation fees refunded automatically?
- No. Calenday never refunds automatically, even when you cancel a consultation. You issue a refund with one button on the Meetings page, and the money goes back through Stripe or PayPal. This lets the firm apply its own policy, for example refunding only when it cancels.
- Does Calenday integrate with legal practice management software?
- No. Calenday connects only to seven tools: Google Calendar, Outlook, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Stripe and PayPal. It has no API, webhooks or Zapier connection today, so bookings cannot be sent automatically to a practice management system or a CRM.
- How does Calenday protect access to my calendar?
- Calenday connects to Google and Microsoft through OAuth, so you never paste a password or key. Access tokens are encrypted with AES-256-GCM on the server and never sent to the browser. You can disconnect a calendar in one click, which revokes and deletes the tokens.
